The goal of inductive Bible study is to equip students with the tools to be life-long students of the Scriptures. The course presents a method for exegesis and Scripture study by considering the context and setting of the passage, the author’s audience and purpose, and the other passages that surround the passage of study. The purpose of the study is to understand what the text would have communicated in the context of the time and culture that produced and used it, while also understanding that contemporary questions are conditioned by our own language, culture, and history.

This course examines the Jewish world in the days of Christ, Jesus’s life within Hebrew culture and Rabbinic tradition, the fruit of His ministry, and the aspects of a personal, daily walk with Him through the lens of His disciples. Students will also consider how to model their own lives and ministries based on a close relationship with the Father as modeled by the Son of Man.

This course explores the basic principles of Christian beliefs, community, and ministry, as well as the promise of Christ’s return through a study of the history and theology of the books of the New Testament. Through the study of the New Testament, students will build their inductive Bible study skills.

This course examines God’s design for human sexuality, sexual wholeness, and what it means for individuals and for the church in 21st-century Western culture. The course examines the enemy’s attacks on Christians and Christian leaders in the area of sexual sin and provides a foundation for rebuking lies with biblically-based truth.

Elijah House Prayer Ministry Training Course 202 gives an advanced learning opportunity in specialized
issues. Topics included in this course are earliest childhood traumas, emotional abuse, generational inheritance, the effects of occult involvement, addictions, denial, sexual issues, burnout, etc. Ministry tools include how to create a safe atmosphere for ministry and how the Prayer Minister can properly care for their own spiritual life.

This course will equip students to identify and develop their identity in Christ as stewards entrusted with unique, individual talents. The course provides a biblical perspective on spiritual gifts and explores
theological issues surrounding spiritual gifts in ministry. This course will give students the tools to discover, explore, and practice their God-given gifts and talents and will prepare them to represent the Lord in their circles of influence within a domain of leadership through the application of strengths and gifts within the context of ministry teams and as team leaders. Students will examine biblical, historical, and philosophical precedents for working groups and teams as related to ministry applications and realities.

The course examines the Christian practice of prayer through biblical and theological lenses, and types of prayer (adoration, confession, thanksgiving, supplication). It introduces students to the theology and practice of hearing God and discerning His will. Students will engage in the spiritual discipline of prayer and reflect on their experiences with God through collaborative learning, individual assessment, and class discussion with an emphasis on application outside of the classroom environment.

This course provides an overview of world history from the dawn of creation to the present day. This course is global in focus and holistic in its approach, addressing cultural, political, economic, and religious factors that helped to shape societies and civilizations. Students will be taught the basics of historical investigation and be equipped with the tools and resources to engage in self-directed historical research.

The English Composition 101 course is a writing-centered course that emphasizes analytical reading and thinking strategies used in research and writing. This course focuses on developing writing skills and applying them while following the steps of the writing process. Assignments include critical examinations of literature and a research paper utilizing the Turabian style format.

In this course, students will explore the ultimate questions of philosophy and theology in the light of a biblical foundation for education. Students will identify the purposes of education and examine important life questions as they relate to the educational mission. Students will develop a personal philosophy of Christian education that demonstrates a grasp of six philosophical and educational questions and the integration of related biblical principles.

This course examines multiple perspectives on missiology and the changing globe with special attention to students’ own area(s) of particular interest. Students will examine specific strategies and issues in missions with a special interest in urban and cross-cultural settings and reaching the 10/40 window.

Meeting Times: Thursdays, 6:15-9:00 pm, In-person only
This course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of music, incorporating music notation for rhythm, pitch, and simple chord construction, and coordinates notational and music reading studies with the development of basic skills in sight singing, ear training, and keyboard harmony. The course includes aural skills such as rhythmic, harmonic, and melodic dictation, score reading, and sight reading.
