Academic Courses – Fall 2025

Course Offerings

Course Formats. CoA offers in-person, blended, virtual, and online classes.  Check the schedule below to select the type of class meeting that bet suits your schedule and geographic location. 

  • Online Class. These asynchronous classes do not have regular meeting times; however, all CoA courses offered online have 2 hours of required live videoconference meeting times for each credit hour. The instructor will poll all enrolled students for their availability to schedule the virtual course meeting times.
  • Videoconference Class.  These virtual classes meet by live, synchronous videoconference. Students are expected to attend classes virtually at the regularly-scheduled times.
  • Blended Class. Most CoA courses can be taken virtually by students who do not live locally.  Contact your Academic Advisor for more information about attending a “blended” class.

BS 101/501 Old Testament Survey

This course presents an overview of the history of the Bible, its writing and centuries of preservation, and provides an introduction to the history and theology of selected books and passages of the Old Testament. Through the study of the Old Testament, students will build their inductive Bible study skills.

CARE & COUNSELING

CC 301/501 Psychology & Theology

This course presents the basic principles of the integration of psychology and theology at three levels—the philosophical, the theological, and the practical. Students will examine God’s truths as related to emotional, relational, and spiritual formation as well as the application of these concepts to optimize others’ personal growth in real ministry settings.

CC 334 Elijah House 202

Elijah House Prayer Ministry Training Course 202 gives an advanced learning opportunity in specialized issues. Topics include: earliest childhood traumas, emotional abuse, generational inheritance, the effects of occult involvement, addictions, denial, sexual issues, burnout, etc. Ministry tools include how to create a safe atmosphere for ministry and how the Prayer Minister can properly care for their own spiritual life.

CHRISTIAN STUDIES

CS 204/507 Discipleship Coaching II

Throughout this 12-month Coaching 4 Christlikeness course, you will progress through a Christian discipleship coaching program consisting of four phases: Identity, Inheritance, Intimacy and Impact. You will be paired with a peer coach, operating in both roles as coachee and coach while you progress through the phases Your personal, experiential growth throughout the discipleship model will serve as key components for your own Christian growth. Upon completion of the program, you will be well equipped to restore and build up other people to live from a place of wholeness in Christ, and to help empower them for their personal journey through all aspects of their God-given purpose You will qualify for certification as a Christian Life Coach.

CS 331/531 Church History

This course examines the history of Christianity from the New Testament through modern times, including the spread of Christianity throughout the world, the preservation of Christianity across generations, heroes of faith, and the emergence of different denominations.

FIA 201/501 Christian Philosophy

This course is an exploration of western thought and the influence it has today for the Christian and the Church. The course also examines different philosophical arguments through a Christian and biblical lens. The course explores the truth claims of Christianity, and how Christians profess God’s existence in a philosophical argument.

Transformational Leadership

BA 410/IC 410 Business as Mission I

In this course, students will explore the biblical basis, strategic value, ethical viability, and current methods of taking the gospel to restricted access peoples. Students will propose a creative access strategy for a specific population segment that considers financial resource management and a biblically-based, principled, decision-making model.

COLLEGE SUCCESS COURSE

This course helps equip incoming students with the skills necessary for a successful college experience.

EN 101 English

The English Composition course prepares students for the rigors of college writing with an emphasis on
correct writing mechanics, writing for effective communication, writing styles appropriate to the intended
audience, and proper citations. Students are required to complete a research paper on a Christian topic of
personal interest at the culmination of this course.

MA 150 Quantitative Reasoning

This course places fundamental mathematical skills and reasoning in the context of real-world experiences that students likely will encounter. It emphasizes processing information in context and understanding which conclusions can be reasonably determined through investigation and analysis. The course offers an opportunity for students to apply critical thinking skills using various aspects of mathematics including major themes such as numeracy, statistics, proportional reasoning, algebraic reasoning, and functions.
