November 22nd. Evil Defeated. Luke 10:19 (NIV) “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”

Dear Lord, we confess that often it feels like we live in a world where the bad outweighs the good. Today, we pray that You guard our hearts against fear and our tendency to become overwhelmed with inadequacy. Perhaps even more importantly—protect us from the dangers of cynicism, bitterness, and hopelessness. Help us to remember that we know how Your story—and our stories—end. You are the Victor, who through the most unlikely means imaginable—a cross and a grave—defeated sin and death and gave Your children newness of life. Thank You that You are always with us, through all circumstances, and that you fight for us. We rejoice that Your kingdom is not of this world, and we take comfort and strength in the knowledge that Your ways are not like our ways, and Your thoughts are not like our thoughts. You are goodness, light, and life, and in You is no darkness. Fill us with the Light of Christ, that we may shine out the gospel for others to see. In Christ’s Name, Amen.
